THEMES
Internal Evil
I think this is a theme because this is what the book is based around. This is the theme for "The Lord of the Flies" because it foreshadows to it at the beginning of the story when the boy sees the snakelike beast, which symbols the internal evil in each of the boys. This pushes most of the boys away from the civilized ways of Ralph to the savage ways of Jack. These barbaric ways are what caused Simon and Piggy to get killed.
Innocence
Innocence is a big theme because all of these boys were 6-12 years old. At this age they had to deal with death, necessity and great evils. Its a miracle that they didn't all go crazy because of the extremely stressful situations they were putt in for should a young age.
Fear
Fear is another good theme because all of the were scared, even if they didn't act like it. From the first days on the island they were scared because of the "Beast" that one other boys talked about. They could sense there was a great evil on the island, some more than others. For example, Simon knew the evil was the savage in each of the boys but symbolized through the pig head and the "Beast" on the island. He knew the evil was in all the boys even himself but it was how the boys choose handled the evil that decided how they would act.
Civilzation is Crushal
This story defiantly shows how order and leadership are 100% necessary. It showed how that when they all worked together under one boy in charge, who wasn't consumed by the power he holds. Because when Ralph, with high morals, is leader there all organized and civilized. But when someone like Jake, who is savage and doesn't care, they get people killed. This shows how with organization and leadership, a group can grow and prosper.
